Cyberknife Punches Home in Haskell in Record Time

After running into traffic on the second turn and in early stretch, Gold Square’s Cyberknife found his best stride late when clear to win the $1 million Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) July 23 at Monmouth Park.

The Brad Cox trainee ran 1 1/8 miles in a track record 1:46.24. He secured an exacta for gun runner when he put in a rail-skimming run to edge Taiba , also a son of the Three Chimneys sire. Favored Jack Christopher racing two turns for the first time, finished third after pressing the pace set by longshot Benevengo .

Sent off at odds of 7-1 under Florent Geroux, Cyberknife ($17.60) won his second grade 1 after taking the Arkansas Derby (G1) earlier in the season. He entered the Haskell off a narrow victory in the June 12 Matt Winn Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs.
