Britney Spears posts video, declines Oprah interview

Britney Spears is telling her story in her own words.

The pop superstar released a bombshell 22-minute audio clip on YouTube Sunday about the “abuse” she experienced as a result of her conservatorship and also shared why she turned down “lots of money” to do a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“I get nothing out of sharing all of this,” Spears, 40, said. “I have offered to do interviews with Oprah and so many people [for] lots and lots of money, but it’s insane. I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”

The “Hold Me Closer” singer once again lashed out at her family in the since-deleted audio, explaining she felt like they had abandoned her amid her conservatorship.

“They literally killed me. They threw me away,” Spears said. “I felt like my family threw me away. I was performing for thousands of people at night in Vegas, the rush of being a performer, the laughter, the respect … I was a machine. I was af–king machine, not even human almost. It was insane.”

The Grammy winner also reaffirmed her previous claim that she was forced into a mental health facility in early 2019 because she objected to a dance move during one of her rehearsals.

In the audio, she described the invasive circumstances inside the facility, in which she allegedly had to undress in front of others and attend “militant” forms of therapy.

“They put me in an ignorant state of mind to make me feel like I needed them,” she said, adding that she was allegedly told, “If you don’t do what we say, we’re going to show you who’s boss .”

Spears claimed she was forced to tell the public that she sought treatment due to her father Jamie Spears’ colon illness, but behind closed doors she was “crying” to her dad and then-conservator, Jamie Spears, and her team.

“I was, like, ‘Why are you guys doing this?’” the “Stronger” singer said she told them, adding that Jamie’s last words to her allegedly were, “Now you don’t have to go, but if you don ‘t go, we’re going to go to trial and you’re going to lose. I have way more people on my side than you [do]. You don’t even have a lawyer, so don’t even think about it.”

Britney further described the amount of control that Jamie and his co-conservators had over her, sharing that she was once in a “secret relationship” with an unnamed man.

“I was talking to a guy, and he wanted to just leave the country with me. We had it all set up to leave, and it was a secret relationship,” she said.

The “Crossroads” star claimed she told her then-assistant at the time, “My biggest fear was ‘What would my dad do if I did do something wrong? What if they found me? What would they do?’ …And she looked at me and said, ‘Are you kidding me, Britney? Your dad would never do that to you.’”

Britney said despite all that happened between her and her father, she is “honestly more angry” with her mother, Lynne Spears, because when reporters would call the matriarch, she would allegedly “innocently hide” and not speak up for her daughter.

“I feel like she could have gotten me a lawyer in literally two seconds,” the “Overprotected” singer said. “My friend helped me get one in the end, but every time I made contact with a firm, my phone was tapped and my phone would get taken away from me.”

Mathew Rosengart, the former investigating federal prosecutor who helped free Britney from her conservatorship in November 2021, is actively alleging that Jamie and his co-conservators spied on the music superstar.

“How the f–k did they get away with?” Britney said in Sunday’s audio clip. “How is there a God? Is there a God? … I’m sharing this because I want people to know I’m only human. I do feel victimized after these experiences, and how can I mend this if I don’t talk about it?”

In February, Page Six exclusively reported that Britney is working on a landmark $15 million book deal to share even more details about her story, per publishing sources.

Reps for the “Toxic” singer declined to comment at the time.
